2015 Alexander Valley Petite Sirah
The work which sold us on the notion of working with Chris, Ain't No Sin was destined to be a wine label.  The title is loosely taken from a 1929 swing song "T'ain't No Sin" written by Edgar Leslie and Walter Donaldson which Tom Waits performed on his 1993 album The Black Rider.  In this age of zombies and the cultural influence of Día de los Muertos (see Disney's COCO) the art, like most of Chris' work feels timely and struck a cord. For me, it screamed Beetlejuice (just don't say it three times....). We love the dry-farmed Petite Sirah we found for this label. The grapes come from Jim Rickards' vineyard in Asti – a sunny & rocky slope.  Native yeast fermentation and a 50-50 mix of Canton American oak and Demptos French oak barrels produce a wine with intense aromatics. Ripe blueberry & blackberry aromas give way to flavors of cassis, sweet oak, and toast, a wine with bright acidity, supple tannins, and a long finish. Intense and provocative, this Petite Sirah is a great compliment to roasted or grilled meat dishes... and dancing in your bones!
